“AMERICA” is one of the biggest hits in the international rocker’s career, now in a new extraordinary version, produced by Gianna herself with the Italian top producer Dardust, and resung in a duet with the Italian king of rap Marracash.
The iconic cover art has also changed: originally depicting the Statue of Liberty with a vibrator in place of the torch, in this reinterpretation it appears melted, as if to provide a snapshot of the current scenario of the USA, far from the glory of the American dream.
“I gave AMERICA a makeover” – says Gianna Nannini – “I resung it and hosted Marracash. The dream and the stars-and-stripes vibrator have melted, now it’s America Inc.”
“America Inc.” with Marracash is the first chapter of GIANNAGOLD, a two-year project of music and live performances celebrating 50 years since her first release (the album Gianna Nannini), which established her as the European rocker par excellence.
The single anticipates the release of a new edition of the album California that marked a turning point in rock which, thanks to the single “America”, had also brought Gianna Nannini to the top of the charts in Germany and Northern Europe. The new edition of the album (platinum in Italy and gold in Germany, Switzerland and Austria) will be available from July 10th through USM / Universal Music Italia in a special numbered limited-edition, printed on black and gold splatter vinyl, including a card autographed by the artist.
