Gianna takes the spotlight at the CampidoglioMay 16th 2012
The prestigious Premio Simpatia 2012 awarded to the Sienese singer for her great civil commitment.
Women and rights. A great moral and civil commitment for which Gianna Nannini has always been recognised and that convinced the illustrious jury of the forty-second edition of the Premio Simpatia to present her with this coveted award. The award’s symbol, a beautiful bronze rose created by the sculptor Assen Peikov, will be presented to her on 30 May, at 6 pm, in the prestigious Protomoteca Room.
The eclectics of artApril 20th 2012
The journey continues with "The eclectics of art", a series of encounters at the ILUM University led by various personages from the world of contemporary art.
On Tuesday, 24th April, at 10:30 am the spotlight in the Seminar Hall will be focused on Gianna Nannini and Michelangelo Pistoletto: the singer-songwriter and the artist began collaborating together in 2007, during "the third paradise" project, a multimedia work in progress that includes live events, exhibitions and on-line activities to disseminate a new aesthetic concept that blends art and life.
The concept of the third paradise, promoted by the City of Art (cultural production lab founded by Pistoletto in Biella in 1998), emerges in the commingling of visual arts and music: the works by Pistoletto become the spatial concretization of a new infinity, while the acoustic input of Gianna Nannini is presented as a "vocal sculpture" that interacts and forms the external space.
The encounter, entitled "Going beyond", will be opened by Prof. Giovanni Puglisi, Dean of the IULM University, along with Professor Vincenzo Trione, art critic and coordinator of the Master’s degree in Arts, Heritage and Markets, as well as curator of the "face-to-face with the artist" lessons.

“We are more” is the campaign that supports the 37% increase in the budget that, while already allocated by the European Commission, runs the risk of not being confirmed.
Gianna Nannini is among the 21,000 who have signed the manifesto in support of the “We are more” European campaign. The goal is to increase the awareness of citizens of the Member States so they will sign the manifesto that aims at influencing the decisions of the European Council of Ministers on cultural policies.
In fact, May 10th is a decisive date for culture: the Ministers of Culture of all Member States will meet in Brussels to define the budget for the “Culture and Media Programme Creative Europe” 2014-2020.
The initial proposal submitted by the European Commission to increase that budget by 37% with respect to the previous multi-year programme is at risk: some states do not seem to agree with it.
And that’s why the Arezzo Wave Italia Foundation, along with the European Cultural Foundation, Arci and the Rosselli Foundation, is relaunching the campaign in our country, just two months before the scheduled meeting date!
And the choice fell on Gianna Nannini, the singer-songwriter, composer and world-famous eclectic artist who, along with Arezzo Wave, is supporting “We are more”. She is joined by Maestro Plácido Domingo, President José Manuel Barroso and the Turkish writer Elif Shafak.
These prestigious “ambassadors” and all the citizens who are signing the manifesto www.wearemore.eu are asking to increase support for culture in the next EU budget in order to strengthen the recognition of the role of arts and culture in the development of our European societies.
Even if support for culture through the current Culture Programme represents only 0.05% of the EU’s total budget, the programme still has great symbolic value that makes the difference in guaranteeing accessibility and cultural diversity to all European citizens.
National and European public support for arts and culture complement each other. The future of public funding is of vital importance considering that it guarantees accessibility to culture, the heritage of humanity.
The We Are More campaign is supported by Culture Action Europe (CAE) in a strategic partnership with the European Cultural Foundation (ECF). The target is to collect 100,000 signatures by May 10th 2012!

Being part of Europe means accepting cultural differences while preserving our individuality: we are more than one Country or one Culture, we need to act to preserve our heritage and let our joint voice heard. This is the only possibility to outline a future able to raise Europe and its cultural and artistic role.
